Cruise holidays
What are cruise holidays like?
Depending on how much time vacationers can dedicate to a cruising experience, there are three main types of cruise vacation they can choose from:
- Less than a week allows them to spend a prolonged weekend onboard of a medium to a smaller vessel taking them to destinations such as the Bahamas, Mexico, parts of the Caribbean or just nowhere in particular. The latter one means that there are no ports of call to stop by, but the holidaymakers can still get the feel of being on the open ocean, yet safe.
- A week’s vacation brings up a much bigger cruise adventure since the vacationers can experience the Caribbean fully, and some may even like to see Europe, Alaska, Hawaii or the South Pacific (the place of living plays a crucial role here).
- Ten days up to two full weeks enables the cruise holidaymakers to see basically the whole world, or based on their preference, any part of it within the seven continents.
All the major cruise lines ship around the world all-year-round. It is all a question of how much time and money the clientele wants to spend onboard of the liners and how much they wish to see.
Of course, there is a lot to be seen onboard just like onshore within cruise vacation packages. Cruise ships offer a variety of activities onboard their vessels, assisted by professional entertainment staff. In addition, there are always some excursions ready to be signed in for while ashore in any of the wide array of ports of call internationally.
It is perhaps worth noting that on average, there is 1 cruise ship job-holder to cater for 2 vacationers. The numbers of the ship staff thus vary accordingly.
Who are the passengers?
They are usually senior US citizens, Western Europeans and Asians, but the cruise ships mostly host all ages. It is also not uncommon to take a wedding package accompanied by family and friends (for example with Costa Cruise Line), just like to take one’s children for a vacation in a Disney-style (with Disney Cruise Line).
To find the best cruise holiday option, vacationers are encouraged to ask reservation specialists for advice.
Where do they sail?
As mentioned above, it is possible to visit any or all of the seven continents with most of the cruise lines. Favorite destinations include Atlantic Ocean, Baltic and Russia, Alaska, Dubai and Suez Canal, Easter Caribbean, Easter Mediterranean, Far East, Norwegian Fjords, South America, Transatlantic, Western Caribbean, Western Mediterranean, Hawaii, Mexico, the Bahamas, Panama Canal, Canada and New England, and Bermuda.
